Umpire Fees

RDMBA will make every effort to provide 2 umpires for each game as per Baseball Alberta’s minimum number of umpires required for league play. RDMBA will try to make every effort to pair a lower experienced umpire with a higher level umpire. If, for any reason an umpire is required to work a game alone, the umpire shall be paid 1.5 times the normal game fee. If the umpire would like to recruit an uncertified volunteer to work bases only please ask coaches to assist in recruitment (eg. parent volunteer.)

RDMBA does not pay mileage for Rec/CABL division house league and for all other mileage regulations please see the Baseball Alberta handbook (pg. 53.)

Please try to bring your own equipment including facemask, chest protector, shin guards and correct footwear (all available umpire gear RDMBA provides will be located in the lock-box located at each field - coaches should have keys to these if required.)

For umpire fees see chart below. Additional information regarding incident reports, ejections, or game incidents etc. is available in the Baseball Alberta Handbook (pg. 51.) Any questions or concerns should also be reported to the RDMBA umpire coordinator.

It is the umpire's responsibility to inform the umpire coordinator of any changes in games assigned (ex. sickness and can not make the game.) RDMBA umpire coordinator personal contact information is available with the schedule sent out. umpire@reddeerminorbaseball.com

In order to bring some clarity and explanation to RDMBA's weather related game/umpire cancellations effective immediately RDMBA will be changing our umpire fee and reimbursement to align with Baseball Alberta fees and expenses policy.

Umpires will be paid only 50% of a game fee in case of a rainout when they've already arrived at the field. RDMBA will be changing the time limit to 30mins instead of 1hr prior to game time. RDMBA will make every effort to make a decision of possible rainouts prior to the 30min time limit but understand the association is also trying to get as many games in as our very short season allows.
